Private training lessons are provided as one-on-one sessions with the trainer, owner, and a single pet.
These sessions are intended to instruct owners on how to bond with their pets in such a way that will reinforce their pet's trust in them as a leader. This goal allows us to prioritize the safety, communication, and trust between handlers and dogs while still allowing them to safely display their natural habits and genetic tendencies.​​​

Training Overveiw
The question we get from most owners is "How do I get them to stop?" and we like to turn that into "How else can I let them express this trait safely?"

Dogs do not intuitively know how to interact with a human world. They must be taught, but it is unreasonable to expect them to act unlike dogs in the process. Their genetics are not able to be trained away, so we work with owners to decide whether it is more beneficial to pursue reinforcement training or intervention management for problem behaviors. In some cases it is easier and less stressful to discuss how humans can manage a behavior rather than train the dog away from it, and there is no shame in knowing your limits when it comes to finances, time, energy, or any other resource.
Consultations
Consultations
Consultations typically take around 45-60 minutes, are always free, and work best when everyone involved in the training process can be present. This helps us see and understand the behaviors you are trying to adjust, and avoids giving mixed messages or inconsistent boundaries to the pet. Together, we will make a training plan that everyone has a clear role in and is comfortable with.
If the leash fits, we can plan session length and scheduling to best fit your needs! Otherwise we are more than happy to share contact information for other trainers in the area if you decide you would rather look elsewhere. We want you to leave happy, and never pass up a chance to boast about our friends!
First Sessions
First sessions will focus on any safety concerns for the dog and confidence building for owners, so you can feel comfortable advocating for your dog. The most important thing you can learn is how to avoid a bad situation and how to set your dog up for success in future sessions (with or without us), because you often end up saying "no" to people more often than your dog.

We will also do some exercises to determine your dog's best motivators and what they view as a high vs low value reward. This will really help make the lessons we're teaching stick and ensure that they enjoy every session!
